Flying to Mozam from King Shaka

Our week vacation in Mozambique with my kids got off today as we flew from our home base at Virginia Airport to King Shaka International to clear customs and immigration out of South Africa. We then flew on to Maputo in a 3-hour flight to clear customs and immigration into Mozambique, then on to our destination at Inhambane in another 2 hour flight... nevertheless taking most of the day as we spent time at two international airports. The South African legs were cheap, but we always get the feeling of being stung by the Mozambique flight costs.. I'm working out some costings and will post them.

Parking our Sling ZDL at Maputo International Airport, Mozambique, in parking space for a Jumbo 747 or Airbus A330!!

We headed out in the rain up the KZN coast but as we were flying at only 500 feet, we were able to maintain visibility and in sight of land under the clouds. The weather cleared up nicely later.

There were many large lakes just inland of the coastline

Rounding a point. We also saw many whales en route

We arrived at Tofo beach after a short 23km taxi ride from Inhambane Airport to the beach where we were staying
